This poem was inspired by a recent oracle reading, as well as recent events in the US.
Lessons from the Dandelions
In a field of dandelions
cushioned by moss and leaves
relaxed and at ease
Cradled by the Earth
Mind adrift
yet receptive to insight
Hours pass by
Dawn, Noon, Dusk
Each hour a lesson
Sun turns to Moon
Moon turns to Stars
Stars turn to Infinity
Each of these flowers
ask me, intrigued
What does freedom mean?
My response,
short and simple
yet as deep as the Earth
The freedom to simply be
to learn and to choose
to love and to live
Simple things, also
the richest of all,
treasures deemed worthy to steal.
As I watch
some of the stars depart,
they convey another lesson.
Be stubborn
difficult to destroy
ever prevalent
Adaptable and wild,
these are the truths
we extend to you.
